Dr. Jolly K. Zaribwende

It gives me great pleasure to officially re-launch the Dairy Development Authority (DDA) website.

The website is an important forum for interfacing with all stakeholders in the dairy industry and the general public. The dairy industry is critical for wealth creation, nutrition and poverty reduction. It ensures food security, increased household incomes and employment along the entire dairy value chain.

Millions of Ugandans are employed in milk production, collection, bulking, transportation, processing, distribution and marketing.
Our focus this year is on improving service delivery by getting closer to our clients.  DDA is set to open regional offices in Mbarara and Malaba Boarder Post. We also intend to rehabilitate our rural milk collection centres to increase the capacity of existing cold chain infrastructure for the benefit of the dairy farmers who will get better prices.

This will be in addition to enhancing efficiency in the development and regulation of the sector; which is the reason we exist.

A number of changes have taken place in the Authority during the past few months; the top management of DDA changed with the appointment of a new Executive Director; but most importantly the revision and preparation of the National Dairy Strategy which will guide the dairy sector for the period 2011-2015.  All these changes will have a significant impact in the manner in which the Authority operates.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. This will enable us to deliberately direct our energy into sector interventions to tap the benefits.
