The major objective of DDA as indicated in section 4(1) of the Dairy Industry Act is ``to provide proper coordination and efficiency implementation of all Government policies which are designed to achieve and maintain self sufficiency in the production of milk in Uganda by promoting production and competition in the dairy industry and monitoring the market for milk and dairy products``
Dairy Development Authority’s objective is to facilitate the Dairy Industry to;
- Raise incomes and standards of living of dairy farmers through increased and continuous returns in farming;
- Achieve and maintain self sufficiency in milk and dairy products and export of any surplus;
- Promote increased dairy productivity with the use of available cost effective technology and breeding policies and to foster its sustainability with due regard to cordial environmental equilibrium;
- Establish liberal but harmonized dairy markets and to promote competition in milk production, collection, processing and marketing;
- Regulate and control the market for milk and Dairy products, promote production of safe and quality milk and competition in the market;
- Improve human resource capacity for the development of the Dairy Sector.
